THE OPPORTUNITY
Crossroads International is looking for an individual who is passionate about the human side of an organization, is keen to develop their competencies and skills in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), in training and development, and in human resource (HR) compliance and administration. The ideal candidate enjoys the creation of HR systems and tools, research and reflection on people and culture topics and is excited to make a difference towards Crossroads’ ONE WORLD vision. The Human Resources Intern will be responsible for supporting the development of an online training module for new employee onboarding, the advancement of DEI committee deliverables, the development of required tools and processes around health and safety. In addition, the role will involve support of ongoing recruitment and administrative tasks.
The Human Resources Intern position is full-time and requires a minimum of 35 hours per week for 8 weeks from May to August 2026, with the possibility of continued employment pending organizational needs.
The role is mainly remote, with the opportunity to work in-person at the Toronto office when possible.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop one or more training modules for employees on HR policies such as Respect in the Workplace, Code of Conduct, Health & Safety, Whistleblowing, among others
- Review of internal policies to become familiar with content
- Research of online resources on related content
- Consultation of colleagues to ensure relevance of content
- Development and testing of modules
- Research, recommend and develop tools, processes and resources for the advancement of the organizational DEI action plan
- Review of organizational DEI action plan and strategy, existing tools and processes
- Research into the best practices, and resources available both inside and outside the international cooperation sector
- Participation in organizational DEI committee
- Consultation with HR team, DEI committee, leaders and employees as needed for additional information and guidance
- Development of tools, documents and processes to fill gaps in organizational DEI work
- Research, recommend and develop tools, processes and resources for the implementation of organizational health and safety systems
- Review existing organizational health and safety tools and processes
- Research into the best practices and resources available for multiple organizational jurisdictions
- Consultation with HR team, leaders and employees as needed for additional information and guidance
- Development of tools, documents and processes to fill gaps in organizational health and safety systems
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AS ASSIGNED
- Assistance with recruitment processes including posting positions internally and externally, CV review, pre-screening interviews, reference checks, interview scheduling
- Support with other HR administrative tasks as required
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in a relevant field (completed or in progress), or equivalent experience
- Experience in training content development, DEI, health and safety, and/or HR administration a strong asset
- Excellent language skills in English or French required, bilingualism a strong asset
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications (i.e., SharePoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
