Position - Knowledge Management Advisor

Main responsibilities 

  • In collaboration with the Communications Unit develop and draft regular documentation of the achievements of the programs and develop various knowledge products including process documentation, lessons learnt, policy briefs etc
  • Work the Communications Unit to ensure increased visibility of AAZ’s achievements among various stakeholders by developing various communication products including brochures, success stories, photo stories etc.
  • Support and
  • Strengthen management of digital communication platforms (like twitter, LinkedIn etc) more effectively and increase the digital brand engagement of AAZ at national and international level
  • In collaboration with the Communications Unit develop high visibility communication products such as audiovisual films, short video commentaries for showcasing AAZ’s work
  • Train staff in the coordination and maintenance of the repository of all materials to enable cross learning and sharing
  • Build the capacities of the AAZ programs and M&E team to ensure quality documentation and communication
  • Work closely with the Documentation team to streamline AAZ’s documentation and knowledge management


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-3 years of work experience in related field
  • Ability to produce timely, analytical, and concise reports
  • Knowledge and experience of facilitation techniques and participatory approaches
  • Knowledge and experience of programs in advancing women’s equality and economic autonomy.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or training in international cooperation, preferably in a non-profit environmental at the local level is an asset.
  • Excellent ability to work autonomously and willingness to take initiative.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with a team, in person and from a distance.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to support volunteers, including mentorship and counselling.
  • Exceptional intercultural competencies and attitudes, including patience and respect for local expertise and work culture and intercultural communication.
  • Ability to cope with cultural isolation and a different standard of living.

Project description and context

Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas. 

The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence. 

Description of the partner

ActionAid Zambia is a global justice federation working to achieve social justice, gender equality and poverty eradication. In Zambia we work to advance women’s rights, engage young people and support education, and support farmers to improve their livelihoods.

Eligibility criteria 

    •  Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada. 
    • Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement 
    • Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct 
    • In good physical and mental health (medical examination required) 
    • The volunteer needs to bring their own computer. 
    • The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure trainings from 6 – 13 December 2023 for January 2024 departure dates

Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following: 

  • Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)  
  • Plane ticket and local transport 
  • Medical insurance and vaccinations 
  • Pre-assignment online training.
