In communities where child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM) persist, girls are often denied education, safety, and the chance to choose their own path.
At Crossroads International, we partner with local organizations to end harmful practices and empower girls to thrive. Through education, mentorship, and safe spaces, our programs help girls stay in school, delay marriage, and build confidence to pursue their dreams.
Why It Happens
Child marriage and FGM are rooted in poverty, inequality, and long-held traditions.
Families often believe these practices protect girls — when in reality, they strip away their freedom, health, and potential.
But change is possible. Every girl who stays in school, every family that learns a new way forward, brings us closer to a world where girls are safe, valued, and free.
