Togo

The socio-political instability and devastating floods in recent years have contributed to high food insecurity in Togo. Around 58% of its population live in poverty. Almost 30% of children under 5 years old are chronically malnourished. Togolese women face many obstacles in the exercise of their rights. For instance, about 22% of women aged 20 to 24 years were first married or in union before 18. Child marriage in Togo occurs more frequently among girls who are the least educated, poorest and living in rural areas.
