Do you want to get moving and run or walk to raise awareness and funds to advance women’s and girls’ rights?
This year we can all run or walk the distance for women’s rights in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, around the world and in our own neighborhoods. With COVID-19, this year’s physical distancing race will look different, but you can still virtually join Team Crossroads run for rights.
Join us from October 1st to October 31st, 2020 for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon – the virtual edition. Run or walk for women’s rights while having fun-filled and inspiring morning with friends, supporters, volunteers and staff and thousands of other participants from around the world. It is more than just a race, it is a chance to strut your stuff in your own city or neighborhood in support of Crossroads International’s innovative rights programming. According to the UN, there has been a ‘horrifying global surge’ in domestic violence towards women and girls, linked to COVID-19 lockdowns. Women are experiencing a heightened risk of gender-based violence from abusive partners and increased isolation, separating them from the people and resources that can best help them.
Your support has never been so crucial! COVID-19 has had an impact on all of us, from the way we work to how we are interacting with our friends and family. With the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon being an virtual event, we have the chance to all come together virtually and run or walk to crush COVID-19! You can help, by either registering below or donating to team Crossroads.
“I’m very excited and honoured to be running the Scotiabank Waterfront Marathon to further Crossroads’ mission to create an equitable and sustainable world and impress upon the urgency for financial support in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. We know that during moments of crisis, the most marginalized groups are at risk. The women and girls within the communities we serve are no exception. As the world pivots, so must we. Our vision, however, remains the same – ONE WORLD where poverty is eliminated, equality prevails and the rights of women and girls are fulfilled.”
Joanne Singh, Finance and Administration Director at Crossroads, honorary Chair, Run for Women’s and Girls’ Rights. Joanne will lead Crossroads team of volunteers, supporters and staff to the finish line for the second year in a row!
